Playing With Loops - Introduction
This video introduces the course.
This course is intended to teach chords, scales and improvisation in a playful way. A loop pedal can be used kind of like a musical exercise treadmill: it is a means to let you play and practice exactly what you want for as long as you want, so you make the music exercise miles you need to build up your technique and improvisation skills, while the loop goes round and round!
The great thing is that it is even fun to do, even a basic scale exercise becomes fun over a cool loop.
The essence is: record a short progression, loop it, and start practicing and playing over it. This course tells you how: in this course 5 chord progressions are used as practice vehicles for anything from basic scale exercise, to advanced soloing.
Is a loop pedal required? No, but having one does make it more fun to practice, and gives you maximum flexibility. If you don't have one, you can use other recording devices, or recording software, or you can use the ready-to-use backing loops in this course.
Note: a bit of basic knowedge is assumed, but if you are looking for a much more comprehensive introduction into jazz basics, there is also the Jazz Guitar Basics Course.
